Minutes of the meeting of 12/20/17
Meeting Opened at: 9am
Select Board Members Present: Steve Weisz, Chairperson, Carol Edelman and Kenneth Basler
Also in attendance: Alice Boyd, Pat Salomon, Julio Rodriguez
Miscellaneous Items Reviewed:
- The Board thanked M. Noe for organizing and planning the holiday lunch for the employees and boards and committee members, Shawn Tryon for helping to set up and Terry Walker for making the desserts.
- The Town Clerk has requested to attend training in February which will include information on the Federal 20/20 census. The Board tentatively agreed but would like to see an agenda before giving final approval.
- Carol will attend the joint school committee meeting (SBRSD, BHRSD, Lee and Lenox Public Schools) tomorrow.
- The Board discussed a letter Kenn proposed to send in support of the Egremont School. Steve and Carol were both in favor of supporting the processes mentioned in the letter but did not feel comfortable speaking for Monterey with regards to any funding requirements. This will be tabled and an Egremont representative will be asked to come to a future meeting.
- The Board met with Alice Boyd of Bailey Boyd and Associates to go over the Community Development Block Grant Program for next year including a community development strategy and Berkshire Regional Planning Commission contract. A flyer has been included in all the tax bills to make everyone aware of the program.
- At the request of the Fire Chief the Board appointed Randon Ziegler as a junior firefighter.
- Kenn gave a brief update on the five town meeting attended in Gt. Barrington with Charter. Charter was unable to answer many of the questions asked and progress seemed discouraging.
- Steve reported that the Chief has met with a Verizon representative who will be making a site visit in January to reevaluate our wireless needs.
- Warrants were signed.
- Minutes from 12/6/17 were approved.
- Administrative Assistant’s weekly report was reviewed.
- Police Chief’s weekly report was reviewed.
A motion was made and unanimously approved to adjourn the meeting at: 10:45am
